INS VIKRANT

India first made India Aircraft carrier “INS VIKRANT”. Indian Navy started sea trial in August 2021 and INS Vikrant completed all major sea trial of major equipment and system, including major aviation equipment. INS Vikrant commissioning ceremony was held on 2 September 2022. INS Vikrant, the first made-in-India aircraft carrier worth nearly $3.5 billion is on for its maiden trial. When we talk about INS Vikrant top speed is 28 Knots, cruising speed is 18knots. Length was 262-meter, width 62 meters, weight 40,000 Tones, height 59 meters.

It is a moment that was 13 years in the making.

The Indigenous aircraft carrier “INS Vikrant” Designed by the Navy’s directorate of navy design and is being built at cochin shipyard limited a public sector shipyard under the ministry of shipping.

The navy said that more than 50 Indian manufacture ere directly involved in the project, and about 2,000 Indian directly received employment on board LAC-1 every day. Over 40,000 ithers were employed indirectly.

The navy calculates that about 80-85% of the project cost of approximately Rs 23,000 core has been ploughed back into the Indian economy.

According to the navy , over 76% of the material and equipment on board INS Vikrant us indigenous.

This includes 23,000 tons of steel, 2,500km of electric cable 150 km of pipes and 2,000 valves and a wide range of finished products including rigid hull boats galley equipment air-conditioning and refrigeration plants and steering gears.
